Visions

The Lord can speak to us in a vision:

And [the Lord] said, “Hear my words: If there is a prophet among you, I the Lord make myself known to him in a vision; I speak with him in a dream.” Numbers 12:6

“‘And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams …” Acts 2:17

The following is a listing of when the Lord spoke through a vision, meaning through sight:

  • Abraham receives a prophecy that he would have a child (Isaac) and that his offspring would be as numerous as the stars Genesis 15:1
  • Jacob has a night vision (likely a dream) of traveling to Egypt Genesis 46:2
  • Balaam sees two visions of the Almighty: Numbers 24:4, Numbers 24:16

  • Ezekiel sees a valley of dry bones: Ezekiel 37:1
  • Amos is “shown” locusts, judgemental fire and a plumb line: Amos 7:1
  • Paul is warned to leave Jerusalem to escape persecution in a trance: Acts 22:17
